Where to Eat Brunch in Madison, WI: Graze

After a fun two days of the cheese festivities in Madison, WI, I had a free half a day before flying back to DC. Luckily my friend Emily was free to hang out with me. Of course we met up for brunch and shopping ;) Emily chose Graze, and I was more than happy to check it out for brunch, since I loved it for dinner the last time I was in Madison.

Easy Recipe for Any Meal of the Day: Caprese Frittata

I know that technically dinner should be the lightest meal in the day, but that rarely works for me. It's not that I eat a three course dinner every day, far from it, but I do enjoy having something filling after a day of work whether I'm meeting my friends for dinner or cooking for one.

On some occasions, however, I do prefer a light dinner. Those occasions are typically the nights when I go

Kallari Chocolate & Red Currant Muffins

I love, love, love dark chocolate! A few months ago I received three bars of Kallari chocolate as a "try us out" and really liked these smooth, rich, and slightly bitter bars. I ate one of the bars as is, but decided to use another one in baking. I made Kallari Chocolate & Red Currant Muffins last month for brunch with my friends and they were quite a hit! Now I finally get to share the recipe

Perfect One Pot Brunch Dish: Turkey, Pepper & Mushroom Frittata

I believe in low key, easy entertainment: a few simple dishes, a few contributions from my guests, fresh flowers, casual plates and glasses, and a lot of catching up and chatter.

A few weeks ago when I had two friends over for brunch at my condo, I decided to make an antipasto platter as an appetizer, dark chocolate and red currant muffins as dessert and something with eggs as a main course.

Super Duper Easy Entertainment Idea: Antipasto Platter or Salad

This past Sunday I invited two friends for brunch at my condo: I needed something that would force me to clean my place. Not even kidding! But of course the main reason was to catch up, eat good food, and drink something boozy and bubbly. My friends were bringing drinks and fruit, and I was in charge of the main course.

I decided on the menu of vegetable frittata with pesto toasts and

Easy Plum Dessert with KIND Healthy Grains

I have a confession to make: sometimes it's hard to be kind. Sometimes it's much easier to be mean, snarky, snooty and maybe even a little nasty. But I remind myself that my parents taught me better and try to be and do better.

What on Earth does this have to do with a food blog, you may think? Well, earlier this month I received a lovely package in the mail from KIND Snacks filled with

Childhood Breakfast Recipe All Grown Up: Polenta with Feta. Russian Recipes Revisited

July is almost over, which means one thing: it's time for another Russian Recipes Revisited post!

When I was growing up in Moscow, weekend breakfasts were always a big thing. They usually were savory, one pot/pan meals that could be shared by the entire family. One of the simplest of those breakfasts was polenta with feta that my mom made often. Yes, that's it: just a big pot of golden

Patty Pan Squash Succotash with a Poached Egg

Saturday morning. I wake up and look at my phone. It's not even 8 am. After a night of salsa dancing, that's not enough sleep at all. I fall back asleep. I wake up when it's almost 10 am. I get up, go to my living room, turn on the AC and the TV and watch the Food Network for an hour.

Wait, I'm hungry. I should make breakfast. Or is it lunch now? Who cares!?

I go to my kitchen. I haven't

Eating out with Instagram: #Philadelphia4ADay. Where to Eat Brunch & Dinner in Philadelphia

I love traveling. If I'm in the same place for too long, I get antsy. Although I just got back from a trip to San Francisco and Alameda, and am going to Seattle in June, I have no other travel plans on my calendar. Oy.

That's why I was so happy when my friend Pankti suggested a day trip to Philadelphia. I've been to Philadelphia three times already: once on a solo trip, once on a trip with my

Eating out with Instagram: Where to Eat in San Francisco Edition (Lunch, Brunch, and Dinner)

Last week I flew to California for a week of vacation. I spent half of the time in San Francisco with my friend Melissa, aka @Kale1stMenLater, and the rest of the time visiting my friends Laura & Carlos and their boys in Alameda.

{Photo on the left is of Melissa and I}

Other than seeing my friends, and not being at work, the best part of this vacation was how low key it was. I pretty much

Mango & Sour Cherry Oatmeal Muffins

Whether you want a delicious breakfast, an addition to your brunch menu or an afternoon snack, you are going to love these Mango & Sour Cherry Oatmeal Muffins.

Russian Blini with Savory & Sweet Toppings: Russian Recipes Revisited

It's the last week of March, so it's time for another Russian Recipes Revisited post.

Whenever I go to visit my family in Seattle, my mom always makes blini for a late weekend breakfast. They are basically crepes that you can fill with either savory or sweet fillings. My mom is an expert at making blini and can probably make them with her eyes closed. They are incredible thin and perfectly

What To Do with Leftover Noodles? Fat Noodle Frittata Recipe

Do you remember the Spicy Fat Noodles with Snow Peas I blogged about in 2012? You don't? I thought you have all my posts memorized ;)
Last week I once again went to Chinatown Express with Cecilia, and once again I had quite a bit of fat noodles leftover after eating one of their soups. This times around I ended up making Fat Noodle Frittata with my leftovers.

Here's how this recipe came about

A Heart Shaped Breakfast for Valentine's Day or ANY Weekend: Smoked Salmon, Egg & Avocado Cilantro Cream Cheese on an English Muffin

I ♥ savory breakfasts! Since my usual breakfast during the week is some random ingredients put together and consumed in my cubicle, on the weekends I tend to put a bit more thought into my first meal of the day.

Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I decided to take out my ♥ shaped cookie cutters and use them to make breakfast for myself. {Yep, totally single.}

Perfect Weekend Breakfast: Spam, Sweet Potato & Red Pepper Hash with a Poached Egg

I love food. Sometimes it's the intricately made sushi rolls, while other times it's slowly braised lamb shanks with tomatoes and tender white beans on a bed of creamy polenta. Last night for dinner I had a bowl of home made guacamole with home made tortilla chips. My point is that my love for food covers quite a large range of cuisines and levels of fanciness.

"Bagels & Lox" Savory Cheesecake: WASA Crispbreads Recipe Development

Earlier last month I received a recipe development request from Wasa Crispbreads.

Have you heard of Wasa crispbreads? They have been a part of my breakfast rotation routine for a few years, and I love that they are crispy, low in calories and come in whole wheat varieties. I must admit that I tried one of their Light products and did not like that as much.
