Easy Recipe for Any Meal of the Day: Caprese Frittata

I know that technically dinner should be the lightest meal in the day, but that rarely works for me. It's not that I eat a three course dinner every day, far from it, but I do enjoy having something filling after a day of work whether I'm meeting my friends for dinner or cooking for one.

On some occasions, however, I do prefer a light dinner. Those occasions are typically the nights when I go

Curried Lentils with a Poached Egg

I love lentils. I love poached eggs. I love Indian food. So when Elyssa tweeted about a dish of curried lentils, poached egg, yogurt sauce, parsley and crusty bread she had at Breslin in New York, I knew I would try to replicate it.

That's how I came up with Curried Lentils with a Poached Egg.

Perfect One Pot Brunch Dish: Turkey, Pepper & Mushroom Frittata

I believe in low key, easy entertainment: a few simple dishes, a few contributions from my guests, fresh flowers, casual plates and glasses, and a lot of catching up and chatter.

A few weeks ago when I had two friends over for brunch at my condo, I decided to make an antipasto platter as an appetizer, dark chocolate and red currant muffins as dessert and something with eggs as a main course.

Mezzetta's Make That Sandwich Contest: Not Your Boring Egg Salad Sandwich

Growing up in Russia, sandwiches were usually open faced. We had bread, butter, and cheese sandwiches; salami sandwiches, and sometimes fish sandwiches. But then we moved to the USA and discovered the big fat sandwiches with two slices of bread and a zillion types of fillings.

I became a fan! What can I say? I like stuff :)

Although a slice of toasted bread smeared with mayonnaise and topped

Patty Pan Squash Succotash with a Poached Egg

Saturday morning. I wake up and look at my phone. It's not even 8 am. After a night of salsa dancing, that's not enough sleep at all. I fall back asleep. I wake up when it's almost 10 am. I get up, go to my living room, turn on the AC and the TV and watch the Food Network for an hour.

Wait, I'm hungry. I should make breakfast. Or is it lunch now? Who cares!?

I go to my kitchen. I haven't

Polenta & Mushrooms From Plenty Cookbook: Dinner Party & Leftovers

Happy almost weekend! The weather is finally turning lovely and hopefully Spring is here for good. I'm crossing all my fingers and toes.

This is a quick post on how to turn food you made for dinner into leftovers for lunch or brunch the next day.

Simply put, PUT AN EGG ON IT ;)

A few months ago I had friends over for a Dinner Cookbook Party where we made dishes from Plenty Cookbook. One of

What To Do with Leftover Noodles? Fat Noodle Frittata Recipe

Do you remember the Spicy Fat Noodles with Snow Peas I blogged about in 2012? You don't? I thought you have all my posts memorized ;)
Last week I once again went to Chinatown Express with Cecilia, and once again I had quite a bit of fat noodles leftover after eating one of their soups. This times around I ended up making Fat Noodle Frittata with my leftovers.

Here's how this recipe came about

A Heart Shaped Breakfast for Valentine's Day or ANY Weekend: Smoked Salmon, Egg & Avocado Cilantro Cream Cheese on an English Muffin

I ♥ savory breakfasts! Since my usual breakfast during the week is some random ingredients put together and consumed in my cubicle, on the weekends I tend to put a bit more thought into my first meal of the day.

Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I decided to take out my ♥ shaped cookie cutters and use them to make breakfast for myself. {Yep, totally single.}

This is a really easy sandwich

Perfect Weekend Breakfast: Spam, Sweet Potato & Red Pepper Hash with a Poached Egg

I love food. Sometimes it's the intricately made sushi rolls, while other times it's slowly braised lamb shanks with tomatoes and tender white beans on a bed of creamy polenta. Last night for dinner I had a bowl of home made guacamole with home made tortilla chips. My point is that my love for food covers quite a large range of cuisines and levels of fanciness.

So then it should come as no

What To Do With Leftover Rice: Kimchi Fried Rice

Happy Friday! The weekend is almost here! Do you have any plans? I will be cooking a lamb shoulder, testing out new cookie sheets and trying to dehoard. What else is new?

Two weekends ago I woke up still not feeling a 100% back to normal after a week of dealing with a cold. I opened my refrigerator and saw a container of rice from a Chinese take out and decided to make fried rice. I actually

Not Your Typical Bagel Breakfast: Spanish Eggplant, Monterey Jack & Poached Egg

I'm not your cereal & milk for breakfast kind of a girl. I need more substance. In fact, I don't mind eating leftovers for breakfast once in a blue moon: think soup, pizza, or even half a burger!

As far as the "normal breakfast," bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon are one of my favorites, but they do get old. A few weekends ago I decided to have a bagel with a few atypical toppings:

All You Can Eat & Drink Brunch in DC: Zengo

Earlier this month I was invited to check out a new BRUNCH menu at Zengo by Heather Freeman PR.

Because I've eaten at Zengo multiple times and really enjoy their happy hour specials, I was looking forward to trying an all you can eat and drink brunch menu ($35).

All you can eat/drink menus are best when you have a few friends joining you: that way you can try a larger variety of dishes

Oatmeal: Love it or Hate it? Oatmeal With Kimchi & Fried Egg

Oatmeal: Love it or Hate it? Personally, I'm not a huge fan...well, unless it's loaded with sweet things like dark chocolate chunks, toasted pecans, dried cherries, etc. But then I might as well eat dessert, right?

Wrong! There is another way to eat a bowl of oatmeal: a savory way! Remember the savory oatmeal with leeks, ginger, and an egg I made a while back? Well, this is its cousin:

My Version of Green Eggs & Ham: Easy Decadent Breakfast & Asparagus Pot

The weekend is almost here! Can you feel it? I sure can.

One of my favorite things to make on a Saturday or a Sunday morning is poached eggs. Poaching eggs is rather easy but there is a shortcut I often use: poach pods I have from my freelancing for Robyn Webb.

This recipe for an Easy Decadent Breakfast aka My Version of Green Eggs & Ham showcases another kitchen toy: 3.5 Quart Covered
