Dinner at Masa 14 in DC

Happy Friday!!! I'm really looking forward to a low key weekend. What about you?

Do you need a recommendation for a fun dinner place in DC? If you do, this post is for you.

Recently I was invited to dine at Masa 14 and took my friend Evi along for the ride. Just to be clear, the dinner was on the house and we just left a tip. I'm not saying you will get the exact same amazing service with the

Field Trip to Rappahannock Oysters

One of the things I ♥ most is sleeping in. That's what the weekends are for, right? Right! Unless, that is, there is a better offer ;)

A few weeks ago I was invited to join ten other food bloggers and media people on a day-long field trip to visit Rapphannock Oysters. And so I skipped my normal Friday night salsa dancing, set my alarm clock for 7 am (that's earlier than I wake up on my typical

Carnation Berry Banana Smoothie: Real Seal

Earlier this month I was asked to create a recipe for

What's Real® Seal? Real Seal is something that was created by America's Dairy Farmers more than 30 years ago to separate products that follow specific guidelines for processing and manufacturing. The products are registered and follow the required standards and are "made

Eating Out with Instagram: Zengo, Pound & Dukem in Washington DC

It's almost the weekend! I'm looking forward to a fun cookbook dinner party with a few friends (we'll be cooking from Ina Garten's latest book), a visit to four of DC restaurants serving lamb, and some well needed nap time.

Before I wish you all a happy weekend, I thought I'd share three of the latest adventures in eating out I had: Zengo, Pound and Dukem.

What to do with Leftover White Wine: Blood Orange, Strawberry & Wine Cocktail

This question might have never crossed your mind, but What to do with leftover white wine???

You see, I'm not really a big drinker. At all. Occasionally I like a glass of wine or a cocktail if I'm out with friends, but I never really feel like "boy, I could really use a drink right now." Also, since I live alone, a bottle of wine could stay in my refrigerator for at least a week and usually

All You Can Eat & Drink Brunch in DC: Zengo

Earlier this month I was invited to check out a new BRUNCH menu at Zengo by Heather Freeman PR.

Because I've eaten at Zengo multiple times and really enjoy their happy hour specials, I was looking forward to trying an all you can eat and drink brunch menu ($35).

All you can eat/drink menus are best when you have a few friends joining you: that way you can try a larger variety of dishes

Let Asheville Sweep You Off Your Feet: Asheville NC Part 1. First Date.

When I don't travel, I get restless. I need something exciting and fun and new to look forward to.

That's just how I am.

Last October I booked a flight and room at a fancy Hotel Indigo and headed to Asheville, North Carolina. I knew little about the city, but was able to build an itinerary of eating out, checking out the local art scene and just walking around. I loved the quaint downtown,

Five Rum Cocktails from America Eats Tavern

Last weekend I was invited by Heather Freeman Media & PR to attend a cocktail class at America Eats Tavern. The subject of the class was rum.

Here's the bad news: there are two more classes offered in this series, but they are both sold out.

Lucky for you, there is good news too! I'm here to share five rum cocktails I learned how to make in the class. And remember, you can go and get your own

Naked Jay Vodka: recipe for Slippery Tomato for Pickle Day

When I was growing up in Moscow (Russia, not Idaho), my dad took my sister and me swimming on Sundays. Occasionally we'd also go to the gym prior to swimming. I was never a fan of either activity (to this date I don't like gyms). Going swimming on Sundays meant Anna and I would miss out on American cartoons shown on TV: another childhood sadness.

As a reward for swimming, however, my dad let

Boordy Vineyards in MD

Some people do "wordless Wednesdays" and post photos without any text, others do "wine Wednesdays" and discuss wine related things. This post will be a little bit of each: a bunch of wine related photos and a some wine information.

A few months ago, my friend Cecilia told me she was invited to attend a wine tasting event at Boordy Vineyards in MD. Guess who got to go with Cecilia? This past

Eating out in Asheville, NC: Brunch at Curate

I'm back from a long fun weekend in Asheville, North Carolina. The weather was spectacular, my hotel was gorgeous, and I did a lot of eating, relaxing and walking around. When I started researching what to do in Asheville, I turned to three sources:

1) my Twitter friends
2) Eat Write Retreat: they are gathering in Asheville next month, and I was able to use multiple recommendations from their

DC Food Tour of U Street

I'm back from a fun long weekend in Denver. The food scene there was amazing and the service was unbelievable. All the eating was balanced out by walking, sightseeing and two nights of salsa dancing. Other than a 6 hour delay in Kansas City on the way back to DC, it was a great time.

While I'm editing photos from Denver, I want to share with you yet another food filled afternoon I've had with DC

Where to go for a birthday dinner in DC? Estadio!

I love food. Luckily, my friends love food too. So when it came time to choose a place for a birthday dinner (and a twin birthday dinner to boot!), I wanted something fun, delicious, and where everyone could find something they liked despite their food preferences.

Since last year I spent my birthday celebration in Madrid with Anna and Radha, I thought it'd be fun to check out Estadio: a Spanish

Brunch at Coco Sala in DC

Sometimes it takes me forever to try something new. This includes getting a cell phone, cable TV, wireless Internet, and oh so many other things that I should just keep to myself. Same applied to trying out Co Co Sala in DC.
