What to do with Leftover Cooked Chicken Breasts? Curried Chicken Salad with Mango & Pumpkin Seeds

Certain people (uhm, my mom and my friend Cecilia to name a few!) get quite upset that I only cook and eat skinless boneless chicken breasts. What can I say? That's what I like! {Well, other than my occasional insane craving for chicken wings!!!}

Last week I made a quick dinner of sauteed chicken breasts with broccoli and onions served over rice. I had a few chicken pieces leftover, and

Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Kimchi and Apples: You Will LOVE This Recipe

When I received a preview copy of Joe Yonan's latest cookbook, Eat Your Vegetables, I knew I would have to make his kimchi recipe. And I did. As soon, that is, as my friend Cecilia generously shared with me her stash of Korean red chile flakes. The recipe worked great, and I will share it with you next week. But I could not wait to share with you one of the dishes I made with my homemade

How to Cook Steak? Check out The Book of Steak + Steak Sandwich Recipe

I hate, hate, hate, HATE the word veggies. I mean, for god's sakes, vegetables, doesn't take that much longer to say. Even I can pronounce that word..and English isn't my native language.

Ok. I feel better.

Although I hate the word veggies, I love vegetables. Salads, soups, sides, and appetizers can be made with a wide variety of vegetables, and although tomatoes are technically fruit, I can

Mezzetta's Make That Sandwich Contest: Not Your Boring Egg Salad Sandwich

Growing up in Russia, sandwiches were usually open faced. We had bread, butter, and cheese sandwiches; salami sandwiches, and sometimes fish sandwiches. But then we moved to the USA and discovered the big fat sandwiches with two slices of bread and a zillion types of fillings.

I became a fan! What can I say? I like stuff :)

Spicy Eggplant Tofu from Banh Mi Cookbook by Jacqueline Pham

Earlier this month I received a preview copy of Jacquelin Pham's Banh Mi cookbook. The book has a lot to offer: everything from breakfast to dessert and seafood, meat and vegetarian selections. There is even a glossary of Vietnamese cooking terms.

Although I love Vietnamese food, I've never attempted to cook it. This was my first attempt, and it worked out great. I decided to take quite a few

My 1st Time Cooking Lobster Tail: Lobster Tail Salad on a Roll

Guess what? I cooked lobster tails!!! This was my first time cooking lobster tails and it all happened because I saw a tweet from @sassyradish about a lobster roll she was making. I ♥ lobster rolls and have enjoyed them from a food truck and while on vacation in Boston. But I've never made one. The idea of boiling a whole lobster scares me. After all, I'm not even a huge fan of roasting a

A Heart Shaped Breakfast for Valentine's Day or ANY Weekend: Smoked Salmon, Egg & Avocado Cilantro Cream Cheese on an English Muffin

I ♥ savory breakfasts! Since my usual breakfast during the week is some random ingredients put together and consumed in my cubicle, on the weekends I tend to put a bit more thought into my first meal of the day.

Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I decided to take out my ♥ shaped cookie cutters and use them to make breakfast for myself. {Yep, totally single.}

This is a really easy sandwich

Persimmon, Brie & Arugula Panini: Persimmon Obsession

You guys! My persimmon obsession continues...in fact, my friend Cindy suggested I rename this blog to Persimmon Tomato!!! No worries, this will not happen.

Here, however, are some of my earlier persimmon recipes: Persimmon & Yogurt Parfait, Lemony Persimmon Muffins, Tomato & Persimmon Salsa, and Scallop & Persimmon Salad.

Not Your Typical Bagel Breakfast: Spanish Eggplant, Monterey Jack & Poached Egg

I'm not your cereal & milk for breakfast kind of a girl. I need more substance. In fact, I don't mind eating leftovers for breakfast once in a blue moon: think soup, pizza, or even half a burger!

As far as the "normal breakfast," bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon are one of my favorites, but they do get old. A few weekends ago I decided to have a bagel with a few atypical toppings:

Stonefire Naan: Flatbread with Shrimp, Mango & Yogurt Sauce

This past Friday I came home to a present from Stonefire Authentic Flatbreads: I received three samples of their product to play with in my kitchen. I was excited! I chose the Garlic Naan because although I love naan, I have no desire to make it from scratch at home. I was eager to see how this product measured up to the naan I order at Indian restaurants.

Smoked Salmon Breakfast Sandwich

Happy Friday!!! Are you ready for the weekend? I am. No major plans other than a visit to a museum, maybe working on my build-your-own-sofa-table project, and of course cooking.

Most of the weekends I make something with eggs for breakfast, but this past weekend I made a Smoked Salmon Breakfast Sandwich. This is more of a how-to than an actual recipe. So follow along and make this very soon!

Dinner Party with McCormick Gourmet: Cooking from Tupelo Honey Cafe Cookbook

Last month I received an email from McCormick asking if I'd like to host a dinner party using some of their spices. I was up for the challenge.

I received a set of spices, some tools of the trade and a gift card. I then had to come up with a theme for a party and make at least one appetizer, main course and a dessert. Not too hard, right?

Well, it wasn't almost until the last minute that I

Pan Roasted Red Grapes with Farmer's Cheese, Garlic and Thyme: Easy Appetizer Idea

A few weeks ago, Pinterest was being bombarded (in a good way!) by gorgeous photos from Alexandra's Kitchen for Roasted Grapes with Thyme, Fresh Ricotta & Grilled Bread.

The recipe was straight forward, and the final results seemed drool-worthy.

I filed it away in my brain for things to try.

Then I made Frozen Peach Yogurt and had quite a bit of whole milk leftover. Plus, heavy cream.

Where to Have a Power Lunch in DC? Proof!

What do you think of when you hear the words power lunch?

Green Goddess Sandwich

Have you ever had Green Goddess salad dressing? It's usually made from herbs (such as basil, parsley, and/or tarragon), mayonnaise or sour cream, lemon juice, vinegar, anchovy fillets and green onions and/or chives.

What I like most about the Green Goddess dressing, is its bright green color. That's why when I concocted the sandwich to the left, I decided to call it Green Goddess Sandwich.

How to turn French Onion Soup into a Sandwich: Challah + Onions + Smoked Gouda

Last week, my friend at work, Danielle, brought me yet another bag of onions.

The first time Danielle brought me a bag of onions, I made Onion Jam. The next time I made Pickled Onions.

This time I thought maybe I should make French Onion Soup. I've had French Onion Soups a few times and have always liked the soft onions, the beefy broth and the warmth and comfort of the soup.

My favorite
